Weekly Writing Recap

Revision of Violets & Violins
Status: Nearing Completion

I made great progress on the revision this week, motivated by recent interest in the manuscript. The final edit of the first three chapters is complete, and I've sent them to my two awesome critique partners. The next three chapters will be ready to follow very soon.

I read five chapters for one of my critique partners, CJ Redwine. As always, I'm impressed with her amazing voice and unique story lines.

Saturday evening I received a call from the Heart of the Rockies contest coordinator. Violets & Violins took first place in the inspirational category.

What was the best thing that happened to you this past week?

Sounds like you are making great progress.

We got family pictures taken yesterday...not just WalMart kind, but fancier. We've never done this before, so it was exciting.

I know, I saw you final again somewhere! Was it HOR? I thought it was a different one too. I entered HOR, didn't come close to finaling. LOL Congrats to you though! I really, really hope you get some editor interest. :-)

So exciting! You've had a very emotional month going on there. :O)

WOOOOHHHOOOOO!!!! Congrats on first place! That's awesome!

The best thing for me was being on vacation. The worst was coming back. :0)

Have a great week!

Wow! Way to go! How many wins/finals is that for you lately? It has to be so exciting for you! God has something big for you, I'm sure. :)

Thanks to all of you for joining in my celebration. God has been showering blessings on me in such a rush the past few weeks, my umbrella's in danger of collapsing. :-)

Jessica and Sherrinda, I'm having a hard time keeping up with the good news myself and have to look at my contest spreadsheet. To answer your questions, I finaled in four contests in the past six or so weeks: The Maggies, The Lone Star, The Heart of the Rockies and The Golden Pen. I took first in the inspy category in The Maggies and HOR.

Wendy, getting professional family pictures taken is awesome. I hope they all turn out great. Will one of them grace your Christmas cards?

Kristen, sounds like your vacation was great. However, coming back to laundry, loaded email in-baskets and the reduced bank account after vacation isn't. Hope you're caught up in no time. Enjoy the memories of your special time away from home. Where did you go?

I finished writing my second book this week. After a summer of labor writing it, I was a little surprised when the end finally arrived. I'm letting it sit while I prepare my first book for submission to a publisher, but it feels pretty good to have two complete manuscripts under my belt.

Robynn, congratulations on reaching The End. Sure does feel good, doesn't it? I wish you well as you prepare to send your first book out into the world.

I guess the best thing that has happened to me is that God answered my prayer and brought both my bother and sister out of surgery. My brother has cancer in his spine and lungs, my sister (89) fell and broke her hip but she came out of surgery just fine and my brother got to go home from the hospital but has to keep taking treatments.

I'm way behind! So sorry! Congratulations on another contest win!! I definitely think it calls for dinner out. Somewhere pricey. ;)

Congrats again!

Well I will have to take back my comment above, My brother that I was so happy about that we thought was doing so much better, passed away and was buried this past Monday, so I really don't have a lot to be happy about BUT the best thing is that he is now with Jesus, walking on those streets of gold, He is getting to see our Mom and Dad and all of our loved ones that were waiting for him.
