Weekly Writing Recap: The Home Stretch

I'm not much of a ball player. In fact, I was the last one picked when softball teams were chosen in my P.E. classes. Who want's a player who rarely brings the bat in contact with the ball?

On the rare occasion when I did get a viable hit, I could run. I'm a sprinter, so I sped around the diamond. Heading for home isn't something I got to do very often, which made the experience all the more thrilling when it did occur.

Tonight, I'm running for home. I'm less than an hour from finishing the rewrite of Violets & Violins. I plan to complete the final chapter before I put my head on the pillow

The race to the end is exciting, to be sure, but I know I have more to do. The final quarter of the book needs polishing, since I didn't take time to do so as I went along. I will also have the feedback from my CPs to incorporate. But the major work is behind me, and it feels great.

Have you finished a major project recently? How did you feel?

Not recently, but I do know it feels awesome! :-) Good for you, Keli. You have such a great work ethic.
Enjoy a little respite. Maybe some chocolate... :)

I'm almost done with a major overhaul of my writing files and it feels good! I've been pulling out all my old short stories and poems and editing them. Some end up in the shredder and others I've submitted. It feels good to know they are all ready (Are any stories ever done editing?!)for when there's a call for submissions.

When I'm done with this project it's on to the WIP files and do the same thing. Want to start the new year with a "clean slate" and definite goals.

Yay, Keli, congratulations! I'm still in my middle of my project but I'm loving it so much every day feels like a success.

Jessie, I had to smile when I read your comment about my work ethic. If you saw my house, you'd wonder about it. I've decided housework stifles creativity, and my house is proof of that theory. :D

Donna, how cool that you're getting all your writing files in shape. That's a form of exercise I could get into. I love organizing things!

I hope your efforts lead to lots of submissions followed by loads of requests and SALES.

Congratulations on completing your wip. There's nothing quite like reaching The End! Enjoy the thrill.

Keli, I'm so glad you are on the home stretch and feeling better. Congratulations on your award!

I am close to my weight loss goal, I started in mid-January and I am 61 pounds down. It it has been so good for my health, my fitness (I exercise 6 days a week) and it has helped me try new challenges with a positive "can do" attitude.

Emily, thanks for sharing in my excitement. Does feel good, although I'm almost too tired to happy dance since I stayed up until 4 a.m. to reach The End. Yawn! No need to feel sorry for me because I was riding a wave of creative energy and wouldn't have been able to sleep anyhow. :D I do see a nap in my future.

Merry, thanks for visiting my blog. I look forward to getting to know you. Are you a writer, reader or perhaps both?

Congrats on the AWESOME progress toward your goal. Having spent many months taking off my middle-age spread a few years back, I can appreciate the hard work you've put in and am quite impressed. I like how you've reaped both physical and emotional rewards. You can do it!

Housework stifles creativity??? Hmmm, now I know what's been wrong with me. LOL

I gave you an award. :-)

Keli Gwyn said...

Thanks for the award, Jessie. Loved seeing how you received SEVEN. Congrats again.

Awesome, Keli!! You must be on a real high right now, knowing the mass of work is completed.

May the polishing go smoothly for you.

I recently finished a first draft. That felt good. But it's even better to finish the FINAL draft, I imagine.

Keli Gwyn said...

Eileen, congrats on completing your first draft. Reaching The End is such a thrill, isn't it?

I don't consider this the FINAL draft. Reading Jody's recent posts has made me aware of the fact that I could well be tweaking this story many more times, providing it sells of course. :)

I am so excited for you:) I know when you send it out, we will be reading of your success quickly!
I'm starting my new book, over and over!

I've been following your blog for a while as a reader who loves writing and writers... I just had to change my sign-in name. :-)

Congrats on finishing your story, Keli. It sounds wonderful.

I have finished my latest. Have to do a quick revised tonight, then pack it up & off the the Golden Heart Contest.

I've decided revising is a never ending process. Every time I look at my entry, I change something else. Today it's going to get copied as is, no more changes!

Hoping Violets & Violins finds a publishing home soon!

I recently set up my writing studio! I'm just loving it! I still have a little work to do, but it's looking good with the inspirational atmosphere I was hoping to achieve!

Sue and Jennifer, congrats on completing your manuscripts. Enjoy the thrill!

Carla, how cool that you have a new writing studio, one you're very happy with. I'm sure it looks great.
